| Daniel, Tobias and Peter Unruh, Abraham Voth and Dietrich Neufeld families were the first Russian Mennonites in South Dakota. Some bought railroad land in Childstown. Related immigrants with less money homesteaded land further north in Brotherfield. Daniel Unruh's Brother-in-law Heinrich Funk was the family connection that brought the Alexanderthal families to Brotherfield in 1876.
