When the Daniel Unruh group arrived in October of 1873 the railroad tracks ended in Yankton, Dakota Territory. The following Spring they travelled north over virgin prairie to Childstown Where Unruh bought land. The next summer sixteen year old Cornelius T. Unruh went further north to claim land in an area that would be called Brother(s)field. Relatives and neighbors from Russia and Crimea continued to arrive through about 1884. South Dakota's Turner County Seat is in Parker.
